WHAT WE DO
What began in 2011 with a few volunteers feeding animals in streets and forests evolved into an organized movement in 2019 under the name "Ayvacık Canları."
-
Impact: Every year, approximately 100 dogs are treated and rehomed both locally and abroad, or returned to their natural habitats.
-
Collaboration: Following the reopening of the Ayvacık Shelter, we collaborated with official authorities to improve living conditions.
-
Medical Care: Injured and needy animals have been restored to health through surgeries and treatments in private clinics.
-
Safety: Following the 2024 Street Animal Law, we established a temporary living area consisting of 8 paddocks to provide a safe haven for street dogs.
-
Sustainability: To ensure the continuity of our work, we organize revenue-generating events such as kermesses, concerts, and quizzes.
-
Milestones: By the time our association was officially founded in May 2025, we had already rescued, treated, and rehomed approximately 1,200 cats and dogs.
Our Core Activities:
-
Improving shelter conditions.
-
Establishing temporary living areas.
-
Providing care for farm animals.
-
Covering the housing and maintenance costs for animals whose right to live on the streets or in shelters has been threatened.
